Serviette Technique

Love the beautiful effects of painting on wood but can't even draw a stick figure? Want to decorate that boring wooden box or terracotta pot you bought from Ikea but don't know how? We will show you how easy it is to use this découpage technique that requires no drawing skills whatsoever!!

In addition to this, Marabu offers three special, water-based media so that new, fascinating ideas can be converted into reality:

 This is how it's done:

1. Prime the object you would like to decorate with a Marabu Decormatt colour shade that matches the serviette motif.

2. When you have cut out the serviette motif, remove the uppermost printed coat carefully (there are usually at least 3 layers) and put it on the object you are decorating. Always ensure the primer is totally dry first.

3. Now cover the whole motif together with the background with Marabu-aqua-lack (water-based varnish - either gloss, matt or satin matt effect). Always paint from the middle of the motif to the rim. Allow to dry - finished!

In Search of a Motif...

Pressed flowers and leaves, newspaper motifs which are cut out, thin gift-wrappings or colour copies all look very beautiful. Even thin silk and remnants can be used in this technique without any problems.
